Carrollton’s Cotton Mills Farmers’ Market is a participating member of the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). A CSA is a buying system that allows consumers to enroll, pay for and receive locally grown/raised fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products and honey from their local farmers. The CSA benefits the farmers because it ensures them regular income and market share and it benefits consumers because they know they are getting locally grown produce and the money will be staying in their community. In effect, they are helping to protect their community’s “family farms.”
The Cotton Mills Farmers’ Market is a member of the Farm Fresh CSA, which is actually a collective of 20 or so local farms that all work together to provide to the members. This means they can share marketing, fuel, packaging and delivery costs and the members can get more variety.
Anyone every try a CSA before? Anyone want to give the Farm Fresh CSA a try?
